How to Set Up Custom Values in Your Digital Business Suite

July 21, 2025•4 min read

Setting up Custom Values allows you to create reusable fields that automatically fill in your templates, emails, funnels, and more — without having to manually update every single item when something changes.

For example: If you create a Custom Value for your business phone number, you can insert it into all your emails and funnels using a placeholder like {{ custom_phone_number }}. Later, if your number changes, you only need to update it once in the Custom Values section and it will automatically update everywhere it's used - no need to manually edit each item.

Note: we have created Custom Values on your behalf, but you are able to create your own as needed. This is an Advanced feature available.

What Are Custom Values?

Think of Custom Values as a shortcut system. They are made up of two parts: a Key and a Value.

  • Key: A simple code you can use anywhere

  • example: {{custom.website_url}}

  • Value: The actual content you want to display

  • example: https://www.yourbusiness.com

Note: Instead of manually writing the same information across emails, forms, and automations, you just use the Key everywhere. If you ever update the value, it automatically updates across your entire account — saving you a ton of time and reducing errors!

How To Create Custom Values

Note: the below is for information purposes only. All required Custom Values have already been created on your behalf.

Step 1: Navigate to Custom Values

Note: in your account you will see all the Custom Values we created for you.

Step 3: Fill In the Fields

When you create a Custom Value, you'll see three simple fields:

  • Name: This becomes the Key you'll use. Example: If you name it "Website URL," the Key will be {(custom.website_url)}. The system generates the key on your behalf.

  • Value: This is the actual info you want to show - like your website link, a promo code, a product page, etc.

  • Folder (Optional): Use folders to keep things organized. This is especially helpful if you have values for marketing, customer service, or product launches etc.

Step 4: Save

  • After filling in the fields, click Create to finalize your Custom Value.

Note: the above is for information purposes only, and you are not required to create any Custom Values at this point in your setup (or throughout the set up process).

How to Use Your Custom Values

When you create Custom Values, you can use them almost anywhere in your account to save time and stay consistent. Here's how:

  • Emails: Automatically add things like your website link, promo codes, or customer support email. Example: Add {{custom.summer_discount_code)) to your newsletter so it always shows the correct promo.

  • Funnels: Pull in your best-seller product link or return policy without rewriting it each time. Example: Use {{custom.best_seller_url}) on your sales page to always point to your top product.

  • Forms: Autofill contact info or standard messages. Example: Add ((custom.business_hours)) so clients know when to expect a reply.

  • Automation Workflows: Keep things consistent in your post-purchase emails or abandoned cart flows. Example: Use {{custom.support_email)) so clients always have the right contact info.

  • SMS (text messages: Quickly insert links or promo codes. Example: "Your 15% off code is ((custom.summer_discount_code)) - shop now: ((custom.website_url))"

Note: the above are examples only, and are not live Custom Values.

Pro Tip:

Use Custom Values for things like your business email, business phone number, or social media handles. That way, if anything changes, you only need to update it once — not across dozens of assets!
